More than twenty pieces of mother of pearl are set edge to edge in three layered rows, forming a deep curve that sits across the collarbone like a second neckline. Every stone keeps its own outline. Some are long and smooth, others rounded and rippled, and each is held in a plain gold bezel shaped to fit it. Set so closely together, they read as one surface from a distance and as many up close, with soft pinks, creams, and silvers shifting as the light moves. The backs are left open, which keeps the piece lighter than it looks, and small links between the settings let the rows flex and follow the body.
