Everyone in the room already knows her name. She finds this useful and occasionally exhausting
Evelyn moves through the world at a pace other people find either energising or tiring, depending on how much sleep they have had. She grew up across several cities, speaks three languages with varying fluency, and worked out early that fitting in and belonging are not the same thing. She chose to pursue the second.

Her curiosity about people is not strategic. She remembers names, circumstances, the small thing someone mentioned three months ago in passing, and brings it back at exactly the right moment, asking the follow up question that makes a person feel properly heard. None of it is performance. It is simply how she processes the world, through connection and exchange, through the particular feeling of two people arriving at the same idea from different directions.

She is always mid something. Mid conversation, mid idea, mid route from one place to the next. The tote bag overflowing with market finds, a borrowed book, something bought because it reminded her of someone, none of that is disorganisation. It is the physical trace of a life lived in motion.

She has a hundred acquaintances and a small handful of people she is properly close to, and she knows exactly which is which. The close ones are the ones she can be boring with. She values that more than she ever says out loud.
She moves with swift certainty, making choices in a heartbeat and rarely missing the mark. Everything she carries, she holds with a lightness and a clear sense of purpose.
